In the era of personalized screening who can benefit more from screening with breast tomosynthesis?
Mammography is the cornerstone of breast cancer screening and has been proven to reduce mortality. Mammographic density impairs the performance of screening programs, with limited sensitivity of mammography in dense breasts. Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technological advance of digital mammography (DM), enabling the acquisition of low-dose tomographic images from the arch-like movement of the tube in various angles, reconstructed in thin slices, thereby overcoming the issue of lesion masking from superimposed glandular tissue.
